HOW TO QUICKLY AND EASILY FIX MASK EDGES IN LIGHTROOM AND CAMERA RAW

THIS TUTORIAL DISCUSSES THE FASTEST, EASIEST WAY TO CORRECTE EDGES ON MASKS IN LIGHTROOM OR CAMERA RAW, AND IT REALLY WORKS!
Here’s a quick method for eliminating edge halo effects on mask edges in Lightroom or Camera RAW. Although we are now in the develop module of Lightroom Classic, this guide will also apply to Adobe Camera Raw.

Without altering the sky or the water, let’s highlight the foreground and gazebo.

Click the new mask button

Choose the ai Subject

The subject will automatically receive a mask. It will occasionally receive the entirety of the item and, at other times, only a partial selection, as indicated.

The foreground’s grass needs to be added.

In the Masks panel, click Add

Choose Objects

In the mask panel, there is a brush and a selection option. Pick a brush.

Cover the area you wish to choose with paint. Just enough to let Lightroom/ACR know what you want it to choose; it doesn’t need to be perfect.

The ai will do its thing and make the selection.

To make the foreground more vibrant, adjust the exposure and shadows.

Take note of the thin fringe that marks the change from the water to the vegetation. This is a regular occurrence known as a halo.

Please repair it.

Inside the mask, choose subtract

Choose Brush

Set the feather and flow to 100.

Turn on Auto Mask

You can see a minus symbol in the pointer if you look closely. The brush will disappear as a result.

Keep the centre of the auto mask inside the areas you want to pick. To edit our image, we will take the space between the two rings. To see it in action, view the video up top.

Begin to paint

Notice just the area between the 2 rings is going over our foliage, and it’s working nicely!

Here is the result. Some things can be really simple, but still effective.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it useful!
